There was something in the air, a sense of foreboding that the soldiers of the White Council could not see but rather feel as its weight pressed upon the shoulders when they entered the gate into Moonglow; the first city of the Virtue Patrol.

The Patrol moved in practiced unison, marching to the first altar of the besieged town. The months of training were paying off, each knight was learning their role within the scheme and how best to support the group as a whole.

Just as the tension seemed to dissipate from the air, a three man Vice cell approached the altar and the Virtue Knights understood that all of their practice, discipline and training were going to be put to the test as the legendary Dark Star, considered by many to be the deadliest of the Vice agents, charged the virtue defenders supported his comrades the deadly assassin Sir Vincent and the famed Outlaw Mish o sha.

Lore could see the look of surprise in Dark Star's eyes when the defenders didn't scatter before him as he was accustomed. That look quickly turned to shock as Ter Yaap Art appeared out of the shadows, knocking Dark Star to the ground, his mount disappearing in a cloud of ethereal smoke. In that instant the group of Virtue Knights, he expected to flee before his onslaught, charged!

Dark Star showed how he earned his reputation, fending off countless attacks, holding his ground against insurmountable odds. Though hopelessly out numbered he refused to yield, deflecting countless sword strikes and arrows with his superb defense. He looked to his allies but they were no where in sight, they had been on the flanks preparing to take advantage when the Virtue Defenders scattered but were now hopelessly out of position.

Dark Star's famed bladed was knock from his hand and in the next instant a storm of arrows tour into his armor. He staggered a moment and then collapsed. Mish arrived just as Dark Star fell and now standing alone against a large number of Virtue Defenders he reined back his horse to regroup with Sir Vincent.

Again Ter Yaap Art appeared from out of thin air, knocking the Dark Outlaw to the ground. Mish spun to face the charging Virtue Knights having no place to flee. Using his quick strikes he kept the knights at bay, even forcing a few to retreat from his deadly poison but in the end the onslaught was to much and the honorable Mish fell from a dozen wounds.

Sir Vincent peered from the shadows and disappeared into nothingness understanding there was nothing more he could for his allies and that the battle for Moonglow was lost. He cursed the knights of Virtue and vowed vengeance for his companions; They would be back!

                                                                                           ***

Lore sat with the rest of the Knights after the patrol exhausted. The Virtue Patrol had succeeded in defending all but one of the towns from the agents of Vice. The patrol had been caught in a battle outside Ocllo after successfully countering the siege but was unable to depart the city because magical transport was countered by battle rage. By the time the the Virtue Patrol broke free from the engagement, Britain was lost. The town was reportedly claimed by Lord T R U another of the famed Vice Lords. It was reported he did not take the town unopposed and battled the lone Virtue Knight, Pinkerton the MAD!.

In the end the towns of Moonglow, Jhelom, Skara Brae, Occllo, Trinsic, Minoc, and Yew were protected by the forces of Virtue and only the Battle of Britain had been lost to Vice.

Though few could argue the success of the patrol, Lore continued to obsess over the failure to protect Britain and how the forces of Virtue could prevent such an occurrence in the future.

A very properly told story....Honoring the ones that deserved to be mentioned. Well done Sir. :)

Many of the true heroes of the patrol remain unnamed, but worry not, a more official document will be prepared for the historical archives.

As for villains, I never give credit/fame to enemies who are found to be unworthy. Specifically enemies who's tactics and methods discourage participation and go against the overall well being of the community.
