plow zerg (OT)

we had another fun morning of snow on the interstate. i was trying to take a customer in my limo to the o'hare airport down us 94 . mind you this is 4 lanes on each side . the snowplows were out in force . usually i see one or two ganged together . one forward of the other plowing from say the third lane into the forth and then the second plow grabbing that pile and plowing it all to the side as they went . this morning they had 4 ganged together staggered so they each caught the pile of the one in front . this blocked all 4 lanes and they were moving at like 25 , 30 miles an hour so the traffic backed up behind them like a thanksgiving day parade .

my rider was complaining worried about missing her flight, so i eventually decided to try jumping off and running down the nearest road on the side thinking i might get in front of them . i was directly behind the chain of plows so when the off ramp started up it created a fifth lane on the right and i went for it . i actually got around them and back onto the interstate before the lane ended . my rider was most impressed .  

i have never seen 4 all together on 94 like that . i HAVE seen it before but not here . but this was like 4 am so i figured maybe i just dont see that at 'cause im usually not on at night.

now the weird part , my second run of the day was also down 94 to o'hare . it was still snowing but daylight this time . again traffic slowed down and i worked my way back to the front (i could see the orange road on the GPS so i knew where the front was) again i saw 4 plows ganged together . i was just wondering what was up (this is definitely not something they usually do in the daytime) when 2 more plows came down an on ramp . the far left one shifted over into the median and they lined up 6 wide .

there was simply no getting around that .

this was a pickup so i didnt have a rider in the limo yet . ive never , ever seen that many ganged together so i figured i had to get a "screenshot".

my cell phone is my gps so i minimized the gps app and loaded up the camera . it was a little tricky managing traffic and some not so smooth road surface, but a i got a few shots . here's the best one i got.  its kinda hard to see the one on the far left as it was out in front but there you have it .



i followed those jerks all the way down that time . fortunately i left super early so i was still on time . was hoping to catch an hour nap in the lot but so much for that. *shrugs*
i go down that road probably 15 times a week. for the last 6 months ive never seen more than 2 or 3 ganged together ... and today 6 !

i hope this isnt something new they plan to do all the time now . it definitely messes up traffic when you cant get around them.

i've seen pictures of them lined up like that on the highways around here...that's crazy

I think I'll stick with our hurricane threats.  That looks like *no* fun at all!
