Greetings,

  I am a newcomer to Siege, though not to UO. Started on day one: 9/25/1997, Atlantic. Deleted all characters in 1998 after frustration with the game's management, and I suppose burn-out from just being too involved. Returned in 2002 to Chesapeake and have been constantly in game, since. I started a "crew" on Oceania in 2004.

  Though I probably live closer to UO/Mythic's physical headquarters than 98% of all players, my rural location (down Potomac River from Washington, DC) has no broadband Internet service... and that's not likely to change anytime soon. I'm restricted to dialup, and ~slow~ dialup, at that. Therefore my game strategy revolves around this *sigh*, challenge. it is a testament to UO's superb networking design that an ancient can still participate and have fun!

  You may be wondering "why Oceania?". Well, I lived for a couple of years in the South Pacific region, Fiji and New Zealand(other islands, as well) and longed for a return, even if it be a "virtual one". And... I have become used to (or adept?) being in a nearly frozen state, moving with a ball-and-chain through the Ultima lands, so a little(or a lot more) LAG didn't worry me. Actually, the game's network engineers continued to make improvements over the years and Oceania is almost the same (lag-wise) as shard's designated closer to my actual/physical location.

  Maybe the above helps explain why mundane pastimes, such as collecting pumpkins holds an attraction for me. Anyway, the season's harvest is complete and I have _lots_ of JoL's to distribute freely to those that may find them useful for future display. Otherwise, they are going to decay. (Alas, I have no cooking skill for preservation.)

  Hopefully, becca's persistent quest for the perfect pumpkin was successful, because the best I could recover for her was a min/max titled set of plain(small/large) pumpkins. I also tried to build a collection of [GIL] member tagged smalls(3 stone). But geez, you have a lot of members and I don't appear to have gathered more than 20%. It was entertaining to try.  ;-)

Yesterday, I had a short conversation with Aislinn on the steps of the "Great Tree"  house near Yew bank. She turned into a werewolf, which was very impressive. ;-)

I left the JoL's Becca had mentioned with Aislinn. Would have given her Marvin's JoL and those of other [CWS] members as well, but I didn't make the connection on guild affiliation until I had a chance to do some research.

I will be happy to drop off whatever JoL's are requested. I also have some small pumpkins with full titles.

During the pumpkin spawn, I learned that the quantity in the fields near Skara Brae would drop off radically if pumpkins were stored in a house nearby. Logically, you would think that house storage is counted separately, evidently not in this case. That meant that I had to use my bank box and a boat for storage, which was an additional challenge.

Also, I found that names were generated from a list of those recently logged on. The names would start appearing about 15 minutes after log on, and tapered off after around 45 minutes. Therefore, if you logged on once and remained for hours, you would get less of your name spawned than if you logged on/off every hour. May be useful to remember if a similar spawn scheme is used in the future.
