Branwyn of Errol

*Branwyn strolled across the large expanse of meadow behind the Silverwood Lyceum. The former Silverwood Guildhall, along with its caretaker Luke had vanished without a trace. Over at the somber, abandoned ruined abbey she thought she saw a moving shade, and as she cautiously came closer for a look inside soft music and the voice of a song emanated from within the ruins. Cloaked in stealth Branwyn slowly entered to see a bard dressed all in black strumming an aud char and singing an enchanting melody. "Sing to me winds of my Lord... sing to me winds of my Lady and Lord..my Lord is a King and my Lady a Queen..they live in a Kingdom which I've never seen..sing to me winds of my Lord."  Coming closer Branwyn saw that the bard was a woman with flashing eyes who somehow knew that she was being watched. "Greetings Branwyn!" she said. "You cannot hide from me, I am your destiny." Branwyn was startled out of her stealth, and being curious as usual she asked the bard about the meaning of her haunting song. The bard, gifted with words as they are, described for Branwyn the glories of this kingdom which "she had never seen".
Now Branwyn, adventurer that she was, and captivated by the description presented by the bard asked " Since you have never seen this kingdom, how can you know all of this? And, if it is so wonderful, why haven't you gone there to see for yourself? Don't you have a rune marked to the entrance at least?"
"Milady" replied the bard in black, "I heard of this place in the same way as you are hearing now, and I truly wanted to go there and see for myself. But I was told that first I must accept a quest." Accepting the quest, I was told, would allow me to gain knowledge of this kingdom. When I complete the quest, I will be able to enter it. No runes are needed."
So, ready to set out on a new adventure, Branwyn said to the bard " I too want to do this quest and go see this kingdom you sing of. May I join you? How do I get the quest and from whom?

Branwyn of Errol

*"Come with me then." said the black robed bard. "I will open a gate for us."
"Wait!" Branwyn replied, "I need to get bandies, regs, and my dragon 'Thursday's Child' first."
"No Branwyn!" said the bard sternly. "To go on this quest you must leave all of that behind. You must give away all that you posess in this kingdom to others or just leave it to go IDOC and collapse. Your backpack must be empty to start out. Trust that you will find what you need along the way."
So dear readers, Branwyn gulped, sucked in her gut and went into the gate. She will never be able to return to Britannia or to favorite places in rl again without failing to persevere in the quest. Desdemona Lyre will also be leaving to join her soon. Sara Dale has been given the spell to appear as Branwyn should you wish to take over ownership of her keep or to take any of the items there which are available to any who want them. Branwyn was very honored to have been chosen to serve as the Keeper of the Hall for the noble guild of Gilfane. She will offer prayers for you all and your loved ones at every abbey that she visits along her way.

Nicely written story, Bran. Too bad it had such a sad ending...

You will be missed. Heck, I miss you already.  :'(

But like Vortex said, donĀ“t be a stranger. Take care!  :)

Thats sad Bran, too bad you are going, but everyone reaches thier time. And I feel that UO and Siege as a whole are nearing thier end. We have been on a slippery slope for a while now, and we are inching closer to the edge.
It may be short, but it sure is skinny

That sucks. Yeah, I agree though. They are pumping to many changes into Ultima Online. Imbuing (not trying to knock anyone) kinda nerfs out all the armor and weapons that used to be considered artifacts... Artifacts used to be "just that" rare and exceptionally impressive in the resists and damage that could be inflicted. Now... well, the "artifacts" aren't all that impressive compared to a super-imbued piece of armor or jewlery or weapon. Sorry... maybe I'm ranting. I wish that Seige could be the one shard that is locked in the "old way" of UO ruleset.

But, I rather like the storyline. It's so much more enjoyable to add a twist of tale to why one leaves the game. I can recall when (on Catskills) I needed a break from my main, to build a secondary tamer, with the help of my friends I wrote in that my main got kidnapped. So, yeah, it does make it more enjoyable.

However... it really sucks that your leaving. I hope that you may return from time to time. It always helps to have a helping hand in Seige.

Pitr

Today I raise a flagon to honor you... my oldest and dearest partner.
