The fencing lesson was going well.  Already Lore felt he was regaining some of his strength.  The journey to this land had left him weak and fatigued just as Hurk told him it would.  He had known the potential side effects of such travel but knowing the truth didn't help make the reality of the situation any easier.

  "Again M'lord?"

Lore nodded to the fencing master, still out of breath from the last bout.  Lore took his position on the other side of the room and readied his kryss.  His feet were slow,  his technique sloppy, his mind remembered but his body had forgotten.  And now he was working to reconnect that cognitive knowledge to his physical being.

  "Shall I get that M'lord?"

  "Get that?"

"The door, M'lord...  someone is knocking"

Lore smiled, so lost in thought about his own failings that he made the biggest mistake you can make on the battlefield, losing awareness of your surroundings. "Yes, please... thank you"

The fencing master open the door to reveal a frenzied Valiquin Lok who stormed in nearly knocking over the old fencing instructor.  "My Lord,  I bring urgent news from the Kingdom of Britannia."

"Thank you Zoe for today's lesson.  I apologize for being such a poor student and though I can ill afford it, it appears we will have to cut things short today.  Tomorrow, same time?"

"Of course M'lord" Zoe bowed and took his leave.  He hesitated for a second as if he wanted to added something else but simply nodded and closed the door behind him, leaving Lore and Valiquin alone in the room.

"Val, I'd offer you a place to sit Val but as you can see we've pushed all the tables and chairs against the walls to make room for our sparring."

"My Lord I have no need for a chair."

Lore smiled kindly to Valiquin who stood before him like he was carved from marble.  He would never get used to this, the formality of it all. He missed the days when he was a knight among knights, the banter the comrade-re, but that all changed the day he became king.  He did his best to create a relaxed atmosphere but maybe this wasn't about what he needed but what his people needed from him.

"Sir Valiquin, Royal Ambassador of Loria, please make your report."

Valiquin bowed "Thank you my Lord. Lord Dupre has made a summons to all Britannia's allies throughout Sosaria.  He is calling a great assembly of Virtue to convene and find a way to end this conflict with the forces of Vice."

"Inform Lord Dupre that Britannia has our full support.  Far to long has this minor conflict been allowed to spiral out of control and the need for the forces of Virtue to unite and end the threat is long over due."

"Thank you my lord I shall deliver the message and report...."

Lore held up his hand cutting Valiquin short, "This matter is of to great importance.  Inform Lord Dupre that I shall attend the assembly in person."

"My King!...You've only recently arrived to this land and are still suffering from the magical effects of the journey... and we've not yet assembled you proper armor or weapons for battle just these basic arms to train.  It will not be safe, it is possible the forces of Vice have heard the news as well and may attempt to disrupt the meeting."

"Vice is not something that is just out there Valiquin.  Each time a person is called to Virtue and fails to answer; vice that gains traction in our hearts and in this world. We are above all things Knights of Virtue and we are here because the final conflict between good and evil will take place in this land.  The entire fate of the multiverse and greater universe hinges on the outcome of that battle and so regardless of the circumstance, when Virtue calls us to action, we will answer."

Lore's voice softened a little, "As far as my illness, I am touched by your concern. Know that I am recovering well and feel strong enough to venture out."

Valiquin looked concerned but did not question Lore further on the matter.

Lore continued "Lets dig through this training armor and see if we can put together something that is at least adequate should trouble arise."

Valiquin nodded his face once again composed, focused on the task at hand. He made his way over to the chests of armor donated to the Kingdom and began sorting looking for pieces that would hold up in true battle.

[Hope to be able to attend the event but life with a 3 year old and a 11 week year old makes logging in and playing difficult at times. I am usually on late EST time when the family is asleep. I will eventually get setup in voice and cartographer and look forward to adventuring with everyone in the coming weeks.]
