That's ok. Going to Canada sounds better than a party.
Have fun.

Welcome back.

How did it go Ian? I used to go to the Edmonton AB Highland Games every year, some of my pals (not the wimmin though) would get into tossing the caber with their kilts on and my did we see some sights. The music would be constant with different Scottish bands playing, and the dancers were wonderful to watch. We spent quite a lot of time in the beer tents as well getting sozzled.

It was a great time. We had two of our girls enter the heavy events. One of them actually came in third over all and it was the first time she'd ever done anything like that.  the heavy crowd thought that it was great when the whole pipe band was cheering for her on the sidelines.

I came in 5th in my piobaireachd. It was nice to finally have a judge that liked my interpretation. There was quite a row last week over it when I played very well for a judge and didn't place because he disagreed with my version of it, despite the fact that some experts in the field taught me to play it that way.  They told me to stick to my guns on it and it paid off on Saturday.

The band played very well on Sunday in the competition. It was a good day for us as the level of piping is considerably higher there than in the region we are in at home and we came in third. It's the first time my band has placed in the top three.  A few years ago we were at the bottom of our class, so all the hard work has been paying off. They finally came off the field and everyone felt good about the way it was played.  The judges comments were outstanding and it was exactly what they needed. Now they know they CAN do it right, and it's now about maintaining that level of consistency.
