AT&T U-Verse blew up in my area

When I got home from work last night, I discovered my U-Verse modem couldn't find the internet.  ???  (I am currently connected via my cell phone's hot spot.)  This morning it was still out, so I did an internet search and it appears that AT&T is having issues across the country. :-\  So if I am absent for a few days, that is why.   :'(

11/13/13 evening Update:  I spoke to AT&T today and they confirmed that there is some kind of issue outside my house.  But, of course, they assume that it's *right* outside my house (which is probably not the issue) and thus, must send a tech out - when I am home.  (Good luck with *that*!)  Anyway, thus a tech is supposed to show up Saturday morning and until then, I will either not be playing or playing very, very low-key (as in I cannot go out and hunt or work on my Sacrifice skills, etc.).  Perhaps it's time for Camriel to work on his music skills. . . . .

This is so nuts I just had to post about it!

Crazy.  The AT&T guy discovered two problems.  The primary problem was that AT&T had installed a new box up on a pole near my house â€" they disconnected my line, but then didn’t bother to reconnect it!

But the other problem that had not yet fully kicked in was ants!  There are these crazy ants that like to chew the insulation off of electrical wires (eiya!).  When we checked the box that was between the pole (across the street) and then the box closer (on a pole on my side of the street), he discovered that the box was just full of ants!  He had heard of these ants, but this was the first time he had ever seen them.  They came up from Mexico into Texas and have now spread as far as Georgia.  [He showed me the wires after he doused the box well with ant poison.]  They are attracted by the magnetic field that the wires put off.  They had chewed the insulation off of my wire, but hadn’t finished feasting on the other wires â€" so he does not think that was the primary cause of my outage.  But he is replacing the wire with a new one that has heavier (and hopefully less tasty) insulation.  They will come out and bury this wire sometime next week, but I should be back in business with my U-verse DSL today.

So if your internet goes out . . . check for ants!  lol.
