Title: Blocking objects
Post by: Hoffs on July 01, 2015, 10:06:22 AM
I am trying to block off a tile in a house as unobtrusively as possible. If anyone can think of a very small item that does this, please let me know. The best I can come up with so far is either a candelabra or a small stealable rock.

I can not log in to test right now, but I used a potted plant and I think a bonsai tree to keep Garfield from falling into the Arrr teleporter at the Abyss house.

How about a tele tile raised up a few times with a housing tool.

or

crystal items work great if you can find some

I got a pillory you can have if you want. Looks almost like a floortile....

One of the event cats will work as well.

Thanks for the suggestions but nothing works quite as well as the small rock really. This is also needed for more than one area so it needs to be nothing unusual.

In the screenshots below, the tile that needs to be blocked is the one on the east wall where the archway is. The raised rock blends in fairly well with the walls visible but looks somewhat odd with Circle of Transparency on. So if anyone can think of anything even better I will wipe all their demerits from the books as a reward.

a lamp or wall-mounted bell?

Perhaps I should have explained that the tile(s) in question all appear to connect to the plots next door, although you cannot see the illusion looking west to east when there is a roof above. So the tile itself must appear to be fairly unobstructed.

I don't think the bells block.

Make Garfield stand there and tell folks to back off?

Can ya dye the rock? I can not really imagine some thing less obtrusive. I will still think upon it.

I would suggest placing a steward or a personal attendant.  A potted coffee plant might look very nice there as well.

Before CharGar logged for the evening, she asked if I had any small rubble wall pieces as they block movement. I think she is interested in the demerit wiping award.

Now for my submission. Raised snow blocks. I did this on Chessy with glacial snow and it still annoys me when I try to cross it and can't. Yes I'm too lazy to remove it since I'm not there that much.

Thanks again for the suggestions. No, can't seem to dye the rock.

Of everything suggested so far the (white) piles of snow seem to work best for me if raised up like the rock. Still not sure it is an improvement on said rock though, but I will wipe Static's demerits anyway. The rest of you get them doubled for being useless.

Should get some demerits wiped for trying...geez...  Plus, I'm the one that taught Static the trick in the first place.  Think that should be good for half of the demerit wipe.

I guess I had better not suggest stacking purple shoes.

I stumbled upon the fact that flax plants block movement when raised, so they will probably be first choice now. Honestly, don't know why I bother with any of you. Just for that I will be doubling any further demerits awarded this month.

Static denies this. So that is ten demerits for lying, ten for lying to the Keeper, ten for whining and ten for whining in public. And as all demerits are doubled this month now that makes a grand total of eighty, missy.

Please keep in mind that Hoffs is dealing with the anxiety of a visit by yours truly within the next 30 days. My advice would be to not do or say anything unless you want triple demerits. Anything could set her off.

gargish banner?  place it, then go above and raise it so the banner part is on the floor above and only the support is below?

Thanks for the suggestion. I may be able to use that in places where the banner part can be covered up on the floor above.

Ian James, While you are visiting our illustrious leader, would you mind having a peek at the mysterious demerit book and report back on the contents?

Well, I'm afraid that book is a closely guarded secret. Further, I'm not sure you really want to know its contents... I'll try, but no guarantees.

My suggestions are ...for the white block tile spot, a wooden box dyed white blends pretty good. Also a silver serving tray might blend in. I cannot see anything at the other spot but a wooden box dyed to the correct color may work there also.
