That's not a big surprise - especially after the Sim City fiasco - but it is worrying.
The wrong manager/director in the wrong place at the wrong time, drinking the wrong finely mulled wine, will look at that 'award', and a little word will wander into his head:
Restructuring.
Next thing you know, some corporate ladder climber will be whispering in his ear that they already have several MMOs with fairly good uptime, and we'll find someone building a new hyperspace bypass right through the middle of Skara Brae, and international footballers are running all over the Luna bagball arena.

That, or they'll go "we need a new look - distance ourselves from the past", and bang, we're dead.

The best thing that could happen would be if they spun it off and sold this 'asset' to someone that would actually care about it.  I believe that there are people who do care about it (certain devs - whether or not they are currently working on the game).  Although I do not agree with her on everything, I would support Mesanna if she and a crew of rogue developers past and present bought it out.  I think we would actually see better content and support as I suspect their hands are tied by 'corporate' more than they are allowed to tell us.

However, we may be a small fish in the EA pond, but we are a consistently paying fish.  So I doubt we would be let off the hook.

Yeah. Too bad they won't redo it, and make it more darkfall ish. Updated, I mean, and 3d. But keep core game
