Title: Anyone Buy Diamonds Online? Or Had Jewelry Resized?
Post by: N49ATV on December 07, 2010, 02:09:48 AM
Anyone ever bought diamonds online? Looking at an engagement ring, and the band isnt gonna be bought online. She is in love with this band more then me...

And the price on the band is fine, however it seems the diamond price is through the damn roof from them. Similar rated diamonds online (even from other merchants in the province) seems to be about $4,000 less.

So curious about buying a rock online, and getting it put in.

Also anyone had jewelry resized? The one they have in stock is 18k white, and they said they could size it. However they will be shrinking it a whole size, im wondering what this does to the jewelry? Would it be better to order it in in the correct size? or will there be no adverse effects from sizing it. Im thinking its gonna not be as high of quality if they get it sized instead of ordering new.

If I go platinum it will be ordered in anyway. Though thats a $1600 price jump.

If it's a whole size, I would order it in the right size.  When you have a ring resized, they cut it and then resolder it back together.  But a full size is a rather large change to the diameter, and I have had jewelers in the past state that I should just order it in the proper size.

As far as buying a diamond online, I've never done that, but I would suggest that you get some sort of guarantee with it and that it comes certified so you can take it somehwere and have an expert look at it and say, yes this is the diamond that you think you are getting.

Yeah they are saying the diamond is 1.12ct, g color, VS1, Canaidian Diamond, and they want just over 10k for it, and I search for higher rated diamonds or similar diamnonds and find them in the 6k range.

Most are better in specs, but its tough to compair cuts online. I might just have to hunt around for another tacori dealer.

I figure she has been waiting about 25 years for this (girls starting thinking about marriage at 6 dont they?) so she wants something nice I guess.

Talked to a dealer down south, and the price on the diamond has been cut in half, and I can get a plat band not much more then the 18k white in town here. 4hr drive. But ill make a trip of it I guess.
