Title: Ali on the road - extended
Post by: Alizaren on August 11, 2009, 07:57:13 PM
Okay, status update. It's looking like it's a catastrophic/epic fail on the house-flood front. Basically, they are saying we can't stay there for at least a few days. They are pulling up ALL of our flooring today and tomorrow or however long it takes. Also, they are drying out the house. I have yet to actually see the damage (I'm changing my flight and flying home tonight to check it out and get into a hotel with all the darn cats).

I might have internet connectivity - I dunno.

See ya later, I hope!

Yep, it was a Cat-astrophic failure. Yay, I just heard that it got to be up to 1' deep in places. There goes most of my furniture. Good thing I didn't like a lot of anyway. I don't even want to think about the major appliances (thinks of the new Bosch dishwasher I just put in). And the hits just keep on coming...

At least one computer, likely contents of several closets....really ugly living room set (okay, this may be a blessing in disguise). Ugh....I had artwork leaning against the walls that I had taken down. That's probably toast....okay. Need to stop now or I will not be together enough to fly home and deal with it.

My basement flooded the end of last year.....all the floors came up and they needed to spray to ensure no mold

The good thing is though it was a major inconvience my office and basement look absolutely awesome now   ;)

;D Kael's right there is a silver lining in there somewhere. I hope the damage is covered and your worries reduced. Give the cats/hubby  some attention and you'll feel better. *hugs*

Lol! I was sooooo freaking tired (I still am!)

This was my day yesterday:
I was up yesterday at 7 to start doing stuff
Went to work for half the day
Went to the house/swamp - tried to scavenge for accessible/usable items (typically it was one or the other)
Forgot to eat lunch
Checked into the new place
Went to old place - packed up, loaded up trunk took load of stuff to new place
Oriented hubby and guide dog to new place
Grabbed quick dinner
Off to the WalMart accross the street for some stuff (we have basically vacation clothes and a paltry few cat-care items)
Back to old place - dismantled cat operation (litter box, fountain, feeding station, etc.), loaded up trunk, coralled cats (3!) in carriers, took screaming cats to car (42 lbs worth of cats + 3 carriers)
Tortured for 15 minute car trip by angry/terrified/drama queen cats
Unloaded cats, cat operation equipment, hauled everything in, assembled various cat maintenance stations
Finally done about 10:30 pm (I'd done about 97% of all packing, loading, unloading, hauling, assembling, etc. - hubby sat around "attempting to look useful" making phone calls all day)

Finally, capped off the day with some mindless UO champ bashing. I was lousy....I maybe might have killed myself or others, twice. Got really tired and stupid, babbled in vent...wait, I do that every day.

Makes me tired just thinking about it!
